What Kind of Thought Atmosphere Do I Live Inside?
A reflection on how people, spaces, communities, and language create the field that narrows or expands our thinking.

Thoughts feel like they are mine.
As if I choose them and create them myself.
But in reality, that may not always be true.
When I meet a certain friend, an older version of myself suddenly comes back.
When I enter a certain family field, I unknowingly return to an old role.
In some spaces, thoughts of comparison and proof become stronger.
With certain people, the question "How can this be done?" naturally arises.
Thoughts are not made alone.
The field creates thought.
[Thoughts Also Have an Atmosphere]
No one usually notices the air.
But when the quality of the air changes, the body responds immediately.
Thought is similar.
When I enter one field, my thinking becomes narrow.
When I enter another field, my thinking expands.
In one field, I keep becoming defensive.
In another, I become braver and more honest.
This can be called a thought atmosphere.
The field of thinking created by the people, spaces, communities, and language I belong to.
While I am inside it, it becomes the atmosphere that makes certain thoughts arise.
[The Thought Atmospheres I Have Experienced]
I have been in environments full of talented people.
There were interesting friends and people who felt like true geniuses.
But looking back, that field carried a strong energy of comparison and proof.
Instead of flowing toward expansion, people's intelligence often flowed toward checking who was above whom.
Small rumors became gossip, and a lot of energy went into things that were not very important.
There were many fun experiences,
but inside that field, my thinking was consumed quite a lot.
On the other hand, some fields were different.
Instead of "Should I do this or that?"
the question "If I decided to do this, how do I make it real?" came up more naturally.
I was the same person, but when the field changed, my thoughts changed.
[This Is Not About Blaming the Environment]
Talking about a thought atmosphere is not a way of saying,
"I became this way because of a bad environment."
It is the opposite.
If I do not notice what field I am inside,
that field moves me automatically.
When I become conscious of it, I can choose.
Before blaming myself by saying,
"I have weak willpower,"
or "I am not positive enough,"
it is worth asking once:
What kind of person is this field making me become?
[A Good Environment Comes Before Good Thoughts]
Trying to hold on with willpower in order to think good thoughts is also necessary.
But there is something stronger.
Choosing an environment where good thoughts naturally occur.
The people I meet more often,
the spaces I stay in,
the language I repeatedly hear.
These things eventually shape the quality of my thinking.
[And the Field I Create]
We are influenced by thought atmospheres,
but we also create thought atmospheres for others.
Depending on what I often say,
what questions I ask,
and what atmosphere I create,
the thoughts of people around me also change.
So it eventually leads to this question.
What kind of thought atmosphere do I create for other people?
[One Question to Bring Out This Week]
Is this thought expanding me,
or sending me back to a familiar place?
